Storm surges, the road and boats to Portofino
The storm surge at the end of October 2018 destroyed the provincial road between Santa Margherita and Portofino, which reopened on 6 April 2019. On days of strong libeccio the sea can still cause problems along the coast: keep away from the seafront promenade. The boats to Portofino and San Fruttuoso run according to the weather and may be suspended when the sea is heavy.
