As you wander through the narrow streets, one masterpiece you absolutely must visit is the Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata del Vastato.
From Via del Campo, turn right and head toward Piazza dell’Annunziata. It’s right in the heart of the university district and the carruggi.
This beautiful church, built in the 16th century, is a fine example of Genoese Baroque art. Over the centuries, it has undergone several renovations and restorations.
Even if you’re not particularly interested in religious architecture or churches in general, you should still pay it a visit. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary church, but inside it’s a truly wonderful place.
