Boats, trails and the sea
The Golfo Paradiso boats leave Camogli for San Fruttuoso, Punta Chiappa and Portofino from March to autumn, depending on the timetable and the weather: when the sea is heavy, sailings may be suspended. Punta Chiappa is a tongue of rock with no beach: don’t swim there when there are waves. Before setting off on the trails of the headland, check the weather: in the rain the stones become slippery. In Liguria, alerts for rain and thunderstorms are issued by ARPAL, with three levels: yellow, orange and red alerts. Check the level on the official Allerta Liguria website (in Italian) before setting off on hikes or boat trips. On rainy days you can visit the Gio Bono Ferrari Civic Maritime Museum, with ship models, instruments and paintings from Camogli’s seafaring past.
When to go to Camogli
For the sea, go from June to September. In May there’s the Sagra del Pesce (fish festival), and on the first Sunday of August the Stella Maris, with the procession of boats to Punta Chiappa. For the trails of the Portofino Park, choose April, May, September or October.
