Parking in Lerici in summer takes a little planning. The centre and San Terenzo become a restricted traffic zone (ZTL) and the car parks near the sea fill up early. This guide covers every car park in the municipality with official spaces, prices and hours, the ZTL rules, the free shuttle bus and the car-free alternatives.

Lerici's ZTL: when and where

From 15 June to 31 August the centre of Lerici and the village of San Terenzo are a restricted traffic zone. The ZTL is in force from 10am to 6.30pm and at night from 1am to 5am: during these hours only vehicles with a permit issued by the Municipality’s traffic office may pass the electronic gates. Anyone entering without a permit will receive a fine by post.

If you are staying in the centre, ask your accommodation before you arrive how to reach it with your luggage and where to leave the car. Otherwise, use one of the car parks below and continue on foot or by the free shuttle bus.

Lerici's municipal car parks

The blue-line parking areas are run by Sviluppo Turistico Lerici. During the summer season (15 April – 30 September) charges apply every day from 8am to midnight; in winter (1 October – 14 April) hours and prices vary from car park to car park. You need the area code to pay with the apps.

La Vallata (area 630)

  • Spaces: 359, along the SP331 above Venere Azzurra
  • Summer: €1.50/hour; day pass €10; weekly pass €50
  • Winter: €1/hour on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays only (8am–8pm); day pass €10

The largest car park in the municipality and the most convenient if you are coming off the motorway. A few minutes’ walk takes you down to Venere Azzurra and the promenade towards Lerici and San Terenzo.

La Vallata campervan area (area 639)

  • Spaces: 12 for campervans
  • Price: €3/hour; day pass €15, all year round

The only campervan parking area in the municipality, next to La Vallata car park.

Venere Azzurra (area 631)

  • Spaces: 144, opposite the beach
  • Summer: €2.50/hour; passes not valid
  • Winter: €2/hour every day (8am–8pm)

The most convenient for the sea, but also the most expensive and the first to fill up.

Erbetta (area 634)

  • Spaces: 30
  • Summer: €2.50/hour
  • Winter: €2/hour every day (8am–8pm)

A small, expensive car park, only worth it for short stops.

San Terenzo (area 632)

  • Spaces: 58 on via Milano and 52 at Bagnara
  • Summer: €1.50/hour; day pass €10; weekly pass €50
  • Winter: €1/hour on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays only

Just outside the San Terenzo ZTL: from the via Milano car park you can walk to the beach and to San Terenzo Castle.

Baia Blu (area 635)

  • Spaces: 26 at Baia Blu and 40 at Santa Teresa
  • Summer: €1/hour; day pass €10; weekly pass €50
  • Winter: free

For Baia Blu and the beaches west of San Terenzo.

Falconara (area 636)

  • Spaces: 75 above the seafront
  • Summer: €1/hour; day pass €5; weekly pass €25
  • Winter: free

The cheapest option. A path down, partly unpaved and with steps, leads to the seafront, so it is uphill on the way back.

Tellaro and Fiascherino (area 638)

  • Spaces: 30 on via Fiascherino and 52 at Tellaro cemetery
  • Summer: €1.50/hour; day pass €10; weekly pass €50
  • Winter: €1/hour on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays (8am–8pm); day pass €10

For the beaches at Fiascherino and for the village of Tellaro, which is entirely pedestrianised.

Other car parks

Lerici Centro multi-storey car park. On via Matteotti there is a private covered car park on five levels, open 24 hours a day, about a ten-minute walk from piazza Garibaldi. Prices are higher than at the municipal car parks, but it is the closest option to the centre while the ZTL is in force.

Pugliola. The Municipality has made the Pugliola car park, on the hill above San Terenzo, free of charge. It is a long way from the sea but useful if you are walking the trails or staying in the area.

The free shuttle bus

In summer and during events the Municipality runs a free shuttle bus linking the car parks with the centre and the outlying villages. There are two lines: the blue line serves the centre of Lerici and the green line the villages. Timetables and routes are published by ATC Esercizio. On 24 December, for the Underwater Nativity (Natale Subacqueo), there is also a special shuttle between Lerici and Tellaro.

How to pay

All the municipal car parks have Flowbird parking meters that accept coins and credit or debit cards; they give no change and do not take banknotes. Alternatively you can pay with the EasyPark, Telepass Pay or MooneyGo apps by entering the car park’s area code: there is no ticket to display on the dashboard, you can extend your stay from your phone and you only pay for the time you actually use.

Reaching Lerici without a car

In summer this is often the easiest choice. From La Spezia Centrale station, ATC buses on lines L and S reach Lerici in about 30 minutes, calling at San Terenzo and Venere Azzurra. From late March to early November, Navigazione Golfo dei Poeti boats link Lerici with La Spezia, Portovenere and the Cinque Terre. Another option is to leave the car in La Spezia and continue by bus or boat.
