The beaches of Lerici are among the most beautiful in the Gulf of Poets. In little more than ten kilometres of coastline you go from the sandy, family-friendly beaches of the town centre and San Terenzo to the rocky coves towards Fiascherino and Tellaro, reached on foot through the Mediterranean scrub. Lerici has a Blue Flag again in 2026: this guide covers every beach in the municipality, from west to east, with facilities, access and tips.

Beaches between San Terenzo and Lerici

The stretch of coast between Baia Blu and the centre of Lerici is the most convenient: sandy beaches along the seafront promenade, with facilities, car parks and bus stops a short walk away.

Baia Blu with turquoise water in the Gulf of La Spezia

Baia Blu

Free beachFamily friendly

A lovely inlet tucked between Punta Santa Teresa and Punta Galera, reached via the village of Pozzuolo. It has a free beach, where you can hire sunloungers and umbrellas, and the long-established La Baia Blu bathing establishment, with a restaurant, bar and two pools for adults and children. Thanks to its clear water it is one of the most photographed beaches in the gulf.

Marinella

Sand

A small beach of fine sand with crystal-clear water, hidden below San Terenzo Castle in one of the most beautiful inlets in the municipality and framed by Mediterranean scrub.

San Terenzo sandy beach

San Terenzo beach

SandFamily friendly

The beach runs the whole length of the village, and the colours of the houses are reflected in its water. The sand is fine and pale, with a free section and a free section with facilities, where you can hire deckchairs, sunloungers, umbrellas, pedalos and canoes. The seabed shelves gently, making it suitable for children.

Bagni Colombo

Sand

This bathing establishment is a short walk from the centre of San Terenzo, on a fine sandy beach with a sunbathing pier. It offers sunloungers, a restaurant, a bar and entertainment, with views of the islands of the gulf and Portovenere.

Venere Azzurra

Beach clubsFree beachFamily friendly

On the shore between San Terenzo and Lerici, Venere Azzurra is the liveliest beach in summer and is also popular with people from La Spezia. It is a free beach where you can hire umbrellas, sunloungers and pedalos, and next to it are the Marigola Beach and Venere 1 beach clubs. The water is shallow and you can swim out to the breakwaters; right in front are the Venere Azzurra car park and the IAT tourist office. Blue Flag 2026.

Lido di Lerici

RocksFamily friendly

The town-centre bathing establishment, on lungomare Biaggini, has a beach that slopes gently into clean sea, with shallow water for a long way out: ideal for children. Nearby, the rocks and the pier offer deeper, bluer water for keen swimmers.

Beaches in the centre of Lerici

Below the castle the coast turns rocky: here you swim from the rocks or in small bays within walking distance of the harbour.

Ciccillo a Mare

Rocks

On the rocks below Lerici Castle, on Calata Mazzini, this bathing establishment has sunloungers, umbrellas and a bar-restaurant on a terrace over the sea. Perfect if you are staying in the centre and want a swim without going far.

Spiagge di San Giorgio

Sand

Three small sandy inlets in a beautiful bay, reached through the tunnel below the castle. For safety reasons access is partly forbidden, and in summer usually only the first beach is open. Check the signs before going down.

Cicci Rolla municipal pools

Family friendly

If the sea is rough, the municipal pools at La Vallata, a few metres from Venere Azzurra, have 50-metre and 25-metre pools, a sunbathing area among the greenery, a bar and a car park. In summer they also run camps for children.

Beaches towards Fiascherino and Tellaro

South of Lerici the road to Tellaro runs high above the sea. The beaches here are small shingle coves between white cliffs and pine trees, often reachable only by steps or footpaths: less convenient, but with the clearest water in the gulf.

Eco del Mare

A renowned, exclusive bathing establishment in one of the most beautiful inlets in the municipality, between Lerici and Fiascherino. The cove lies sixty metres below road level and is reached by a lift or a panoramic stairway. It has a restaurant and well-kept facilities; in high season it is best to book. Blue Flag 2026.

Cala di Maramozza near Lerici

Cala Maramozza

A wild cove between Lerici and Fiascherino, reached by a poorly signposted path and a long descent down steps. There are no facilities, so bring water and an umbrella. In return you get exceptionally clear water and few people.

Rocky cove with clear water

La Caletta

A small bay between the Maralunga and Maramozza headlands, with clear water and scrub that comes down almost to the beach. You can reach it by sea or by a path from the road. Offshore, at a depth of nine metres, lies the wreck of a 1st-century Roman ship, a site well known among divers.

Fiascherino

Sand

Two beaches separated by a small rocky headland, reached by two stairways from the road to Tellaro. They are of coarse sand with a gently shelving seabed, partly free and partly with facilities (Fiascherino Beach and Fiascherino lato bunker), with a lifeguard, bar and hire of umbrellas, deckchairs, pedalos and canoes. D. H. Lawrence lived here in 1913–14. Blue Flag 2026.

Scogli di Trigliano

Rocks

Opposite Tellaro’s marina, the Trigliano rocks are the favourite spot for anyone who loves diving in, from various heights. You reach them by swimming or along small lanes before the old village, and they offer a unique view of the village and the church of San Giorgio.

Free beaches, beaches for children and for snorkelling

Free beaches. The main ones are at San Terenzo, Venere Azzurra, Baia Blu and Marinella; at Fiascherino there are free stretches next to those with facilities. On “free beaches with facilities” entry is free and you only pay to hire sunloungers and umbrellas.

Beaches for children. Lido di Lerici, Venere Azzurra and San Terenzo have sand, shallow water and facilities close at hand. They are also the easiest for families with pushchairs, as they are reached on the level from the promenade.

Snorkelling. The best underwater scenery is towards Tellaro: Fiascherino, La Caletta and the Trigliano rocks, with posidonia seagrass, fish and, at La Caletta, the remains of the Roman ship for those diving with the gulf’s dive centres.

Tips for a day at the beach in Lerici

  • In July and August, book an umbrella and sunlounger at the bathing establishments, or get to the free beaches by 9am.
  • From mid-June to the end of August the centres of Lerici and San Terenzo are a ZTL from 10am to 6.30pm: use the car parks outside the centre and the free shuttle bus. You will find everything in the Lerici parking guide.
  • For Fiascherino, Maramozza and Eco del Mare you need comfortable shoes: the stairways are long and it is uphill on the way back.
