Seborga looks out over the Ligurian Sea, the Maritime Alps and the French coast. There are no official averages for the village: the table starts from the Sanremo figures and takes off about 3 °C for the altitude. In practice the climate is that of the Riviera, just a little cooler, especially in the evening. For the weather on the coast, see the Bordighera weather page.

Monthly averages for Sanremo (air temperatures 2004–2020). Source: climieviaggi.it. For Seborga, at about 500 m above sea level, the temperatures are an estimate: they are the Sanremo figures, on the coast about 8 km away, with 0.6 °C less for every 100 m of altitude; the rainy days are those of Sanremo. Treat them as a guide: in the valleys nights are usually cooler and the gap between day and night wider.
Clear days are the best for the viewpoint in piazza Martiri Patrioti, where the view reaches as far as the Côte d’Azur. At the end of winter the mimosa flowers – several varieties are grown here – and the local “seborghina” broom can last until mid-April. If you’re coming by bus, remember that line 10 from Bordighera only runs on weekdays: there are no buses on Sundays and public holidays, so in bad weather plan ahead.
The centre can be seen in half a day. When it rains you can go into the church of San Martino, from the early 17th century, and visit the permanent exhibition of musical instruments, with 135 antique instruments: check the opening times before you go up. The story of the monks of Lérins and of the modern principality is told in our guide to the Principality of Seborga.
The best times are late winter, for the mimosa, spring and autumn. San Bernardo is celebrated on 20 August and the patron saint, San Martino, on 11 November; the election of the new “prince” is scheduled for Sunday 22 November 2026. In Liguria, alerts for rain and thunderstorms are issued by ARPAL: check them on the official Allerta Liguria website (in Italian) before driving up into the hills.
