Perinaldo’s climate month by month

Perinaldo is a ridge-top village, about 14 km from Sanremo, between the Nervia valley and the Verbone valley. There are no official averages for Perinaldo: the table starts from those of Sanremo and subtracts about 3 °C for the altitude, so it is an estimate, and there is no sea column. In winter, at 572 metres, it gets cold early; summer is cooler than on the coast, especially in the evening. If you want the weather by the sea, see the weather in Sanremo or the beach at Bordighera.

Monthly averages for Sanremo (air temperatures 2004–2020). Source: climieviaggi.it. For Perinaldo, at about 570 m above sea level, the temperatures are an estimate: they are the Sanremo figures, on the coast about 14 km away, with 0.6 °C less for every 100 m of altitude; the rainy days are those of Sanremo. Treat them as a guide: in the valleys nights are usually cooler and the gap between day and night wider.

Sky, observatory and walks

Perinaldo is the town of Giovanni Domenico Cassini and has an observatory: the evenings only go ahead under a clear sky, and the wind matters too. In 2026 the observatory could only be visited during events, with online booking required, and the organiser published the confirmation or cancellation at 6:00 pm on the same day, without guaranteeing a clear sky. The 2027 calendar is not confirmed: you’ll find everything about the Cassini observatory in the dedicated guide. For the mule track from Apricale to Perinaldo, about an hour and a half on foot, pick a clear day and, after rain, wait for the ground to dry.

In Liguria, alerts for rain and thunderstorms are issued by ARPAL, with three levels: yellow, orange and red. Check the level on the official Allerta Liguria website (in Italian) before setting off: the road to Perinaldo is a narrow, winding mountain road.

When to go to Perinaldo

The best months are spring and autumn, with clear air. In May, on the second Sunday, there is the festival of the violet artichoke; in 2026 the public evenings at the observatory ran from July to September. Other 2026 events, as a guide: the spring equinox at the sundial on 21 March, the Grande Castagnata (chestnut festival) in October and the feast of San Nicolò on 6 December. For the 2027 editions, wait for confirmation from the municipality.
