Sea, mountain biking and climbing
For the sea, go from June to September: the beaches of Finale Ligure are described one by one in the dedicated guide. But Finale is also one of Europe’s mountain biking centres, with more than 200 trails from the mountains to the sea, and it has over 4,000 climbing routes on the crags inland: people who come for bikes and rock mostly choose autumn, winter and spring, when the heat isn’t a burden. After heavy rain the trails stay muddy for a few days.
If it rains, Finalborgo has the Museo Archeologico del Finale (Archaeological Museum) in the Santa Caterina complex. Guided tours of the Arene Candide cave, on the other hand, are suspended when it rains.
When to go to Finale Ligure
July and August are the months of the sea and the crowds. May, June, September and October are good for everything: sea, villages and trails. At the end of May there’s the 24-hour MTB race, and in October the enduro races.
