The beach of Sori is a single one, the Spiaggia Centrale, about 400 metres long, and in 2026 it has a Blue Flag. The rest of the coast is rocky. Here you will find what it is like, how to reach it from the station, where to leave the car, what changes in 2027 and how it compares with nearby beaches.

The Spiaggia Centrale

Il mare e la spiaggia di Sori dall'alto

The beach lies in front of the town, under the railway viaduct, and runs for about 400 metres between the municipal pool to the west and Capo Pino to the east. The surface is dark sand mixed with fine pebbles: sources disagree, some speak of sand and others of small light pebbles. One source mentions shallow water, but beach shoes for the larger stones do not hurt. It is not the golden sand of the promotional photos.

There are beach clubs and free stretches. How many there are, what they are called, what a sunbed and umbrella cost and when the lifeguard is on duty is not in any official source: ⚠️ read the sign at the entrance or ask in town. The same applies to dog rules and showers.

The 2026 Blue Flag

Sori appears at number 44 on the official 2026 list of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), with a single beach: the Spiaggia Centrale. You can check the list on the Blue Flag website; the municipality has a page on it, titled only “Spiaggia centrale”. Some sources say “Blue Flag since 2023”, but earlier years are not confirmed: only 2026 counts.

The flag is valid for the current season. The municipality itself says it must lower it if the criteria are not met: if it matters to you, check that it is flying on the day you go.

Capo Pino and the rocky coast

La costa rocciosa di Sori

At Capo Pino there is a rocky point where you swim from the rocks, with a small beach club. The rest of the coast of Sori is cliffs and rough coves, with rock faces up to 30 metres: there is no walking along the sea and no coastal path to Recco or Bogliasco is documented. The stretch belongs to a Natura 2000 site shared with Bogliasco, Pieve Ligure and Nervi, with posidonia meadows and coralligenous reefs: if you snorkel, do not touch the bottom.

How to reach the beach

La stazione ferroviaria di Sori

The easiest way is the train. Sori station is on the sea, a few steps from the beach: from Genova Brignole it takes 24–30 minutes on a regional train, with a regional ticket costing a few euros. Check the timetable on Trenitalia. The neighbouring stations are Pieve Ligure and Recco.

If you come by car, leave the A12 at Recco (about 4 km) or Genova Nervi (about 10) and continue on the Aurelia. On summer weekends traffic is slow: arrive early.

Where to park

This is the most frequent question and the one with the fewest official answers: the municipality publishes no spaces, fees or maps. This is what is available.

  • Blue lines: under the flyover and in the streets near the beach, paid. Spaces and fees are not confirmed.
  • Rio Cortino: free parking at the sports ground, about 2.5 km from the sea, with a free shuttle that takes less than 10 minutes. Season and hours of the shuttle: ⚠️ to be checked.
  • Station: there is no car park as far as we know, only for bicycles.

Before you leave, check the website of the Comune di Sori. If you can, leave the car at home.

Concessions for 2027

On 24 September 2026 the municipality published the reassignment of its maritime state concessions, with tenders for five tourist and leisure concessions. This means some operators may change in 2027: do not trust names, prices and services on outdated portals.

Sori and the nearby beaches

  • Recco: has a 2026 Blue Flag (Ciappea and Spiaggia Centrale). Mulinetti and Ciappea belong to the Recco promenade, not to Sori.
  • Bogliasco: borders Sori but has no Blue Flag in 2026. There is no continuous promenade between the two towns.
  • Camogli: the fishing village, for a day that combines sea and a walk.
  • Genoa: for the sea in the city and Nervi, if Sori is not enough.
