Roman walkway

The Roman Promenade, located on the Crocetta promontory in Celle Ligure, is a route that dates back to Roman times, when it was an essential communication route before the creation of the coastal road.

This short but intense route offers breathtaking views of the sea, joining the intersection of Via Trentun and Via Crocetta with the beginning of Via Alla Costa near the Iron Bridge.

As you walk along the path, you pass by charming residences, gardens and vivid villas that grace the landscape.

The route also passes by the remains of Testa Castle and the Chapel of Our Lady of the Cross, both partially destroyed during an explosion in 1945.

Today, a statue of Our Lady surrounded by tiles engraved with prayers of the faithful marks the original site of the chapel.

This spectacular natural area, overlooking the sea, is accessible by a new ropeway system that can be used year-round with differentiated schedules. Alternatively, it can be reached on foot by the ancient Bottini steps or by car, with ample free parking available.

The pine forest provides a cool refuge on hot summer days and hosts a variety of events and activities throughout the year. Filled with various typical Mediterranean trees perfect for birdwatching, the pine forest also includes picnic areas, children’s playgrounds, barrier-free restrooms, and refreshing drinking fountains.

In collaboration with Lipu-BirdLife Italy, the municipality has also implemented a conservation project with artificial nests and feeders to encourage the arrival of migratory birds.

Since summer 2017, the pine forest has been enhanced with Land Art works in collaboration with the Art in Cascina Association.

How to get to Celle Ligure

Reaching Celle Ligure is very easy.

Along the A10, the Genoa-Ventimiglia highway, there is just the Arenzano exit. From the toll gate, the city center can be reached in a few minutes.

The train is just as comfortable. Virtually all trains on the Genoa-Ventimiglia Line stop in Arenzano, and the station is in the center of town.

The nearest airport is Genoa airport.
