The Lungomare Argentina is Bordighera’s seafront promenade: about 2 kilometres of straight line between the railway and the beach, from the centre to Capo Sant’Ampelio. It is free, always open and takes about half an hour at an easy pace. It is named after Evita Perón, who opened it in July 1947.

What you see along the promenade

On one side is the sea with its beaches, on the other the railway and the gardens. Between one stretch of beach and the next you find beach clubs, bars and restaurants with tables by the sea, and areas with palms, araucarias and succulents. With the low sun the view reaches La Turbie, Cap Ferrat and the buildings of Monte Carlo.

Bordighera holds the Blue Flag in 2025 and 2026. Along the promenade the beaches are mostly beach clubs, with stretches of free beach in between. For details see the guide to the beaches of Bordighera.
Why it is called Argentina
The promenade was opened in July 1947 by Eva Perón, wife of the Argentine president, who visited Bordighera for a day. For decades it remained the pride of the town, described as the longest pedestrian seafront on the Riviera.
Markets and events on the promenade

- Thursday market: every Thursday morning, usually from about 8 am to 1 pm
- “Bordighera Città d’Arte” market: first Sunday of the month, except January, with antiques
Market hours are those given by unofficial sources, so check them on the Comune’s website before you go.
Getting there and where to park
From Bordighera station you can walk to the promenade. By car there is paid parking along the seafront area and a few free spaces in via Romana and near the station, but few in summer. The details are in the guide to parking in Bordighera.
To the east, past the church of Sant’Ampelio, the walk continues with the Capo esplanade and the Marabutto. If you have time, come back by climbing up to Bordighera Alta.
Where it is
Lungomare Argentina is in Bordighera (Riviera di Ponente, Riviera dei Fiori).
