Taggia’s climate month by month

Taggia is a medieval town on the Argentina stream, about 3 km from the sea and some 15 km from Sanremo. There are no official averages for the old town: the table uses those of Sanremo, about 14 km away, so it is an estimate, and there is no sea-temperature column. At 40 m the difference from the coast is small; evenings are a little cooler near the stream. For the weather on the beach, see the Sanremo weather page or the beach at Arma di Taggia.

Monthly averages for Sanremo (air temperatures 2004–2020). Source: climieviaggi.it. For Taggia, at about 40 m above sea level, the temperatures are an estimate: they are the Sanremo figures, on the coast about 14 km away, with 0.6 °C less for every 100 m of altitude; the rainy days are those of Sanremo. Treat them as a guide: in the valleys nights are usually cooler and the gap between day and night wider.

The old town, the bridge and after the rain

You can walk around the old town in two or three hours, taking in the medieval bridge over the Argentina, the arcades of via Soleri and the climb to the castle from via San Dalmazzo. The climb is short but steep, and after rain the stones can be slippery: take care and wear comfortable shoes. In heavy rain keep away from the banks of the stream. The sea at Arma is about 3 km away, about 12 minutes on bus line 16: the beach at Arma di Taggia has a Blue Flag for 2026, the old town does not.

If it rains in Taggia

On rainy days, stick to what is indoors: the San Domenico convent with its church, cloister and picture gallery, the basilica of Santi Giacomo e Filippo and, when they are open, the oratories of the Bianchi and the Rossi. Opening times are not confirmed: for the convent, call 0184 477278 before you go (⚠️). The bridge and the castle are better enjoyed on a clear day.

When to go to Taggia

The best months are spring and autumn, with clear air and pleasant temperatures for walking. Summer is hot: go early in the morning. The second Saturday of February brings the Furgari, on 11 March there is the feast of the Madonna Miracolosa, in early May the Meditaggiasca fair (the 13th edition was on 1 and 2 May 2026); in July Santa Maria Maddalena del Bosco is celebrated. Alerts for rain and thunderstorms are issued by ARPAL: check them on the official Allerta Liguria website (in Italian) before driving up the valley.
