Sea, Sentiero Blu and Monte Mao
In front of the town is a long sandy beach, with Bergeggi island and Capo Noli in view: the beaches of Spotorno are described one by one in the dedicated guide. From May to the end of September, between Spotorno and Bergeggi, the marine protected area runs the Sentiero Blu, a sea trail marked by buoys for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and SUP: when the sea is rough, put it off. The climb up Monte Mao, 440 m, is steep and starts right from the town: in summer set off early, and after rain wait for the path to dry.
In Liguria, alerts for rain and thunderstorms are issued by ARPAL, with three levels: yellow, orange and red alerts. Check the level on the official Allerta Liguria website (in Italian) before setting off on hikes or boat trips.
When to go to Spotorno
For the sea, go from June to September: the Lido beach has a Blue Flag for 2026. July and August are the busiest months. For Monte Mao and the walk to Noli, choose spring or autumn. On 25 March there is the feast of the Santissima Annunziata; in spring the Festival del Vento fills the beach and seafront with kites, and in September there is the Beach Battle Crossfit.
