For Santo Stefano d’Aveto, at about 1012 m above sea level, the temperatures are an estimate: they are the Genova figures, on the coast about 45 km away, with 0.6 °C less for every 100 m of altitude; the rainy days are those of Genova. Treat them as a guide: in the valleys nights are usually cooler and the gap between day and night wider.

Snow, lifts and peaks

In winter the lifts at Rocca d’Aveto, Prato della Cipolla and Monte Bue open only with suitable snow and weather. At the end of January 2026, after snowfalls, on the weekend of 31 January and 1 February the pistes above 1,600 metres and both huts were open, with lifts from 9 to 16:30. To know whether they are open check the Facebook page “Impianti Val d’Aveto” or call the Ski Area (366 4227837). On Monte Maggiorasca fog and wind arrive quickly even in summer: see the guide to Monte Maggiorasca and bring extra layers.

To drive up the valley from Lavagna or Chiavari, with snow or ice the municipality says winter equipment is required. In Liguria the alert for rain and thunderstorms is issued by ARPAL, with three levels: yellow, orange and red. Check it on the official Allerta Liguria site before you set out.
