Beach, campsites and boat

In summer the sea in front of Deiva’s long beach is often calm; with the libeccio (south-west wind) and the storm surges of autumn, swimming is not advisable. Many visitors stay at the campsites of Deiva Marina: in heavy rain and during weather alerts, check the notices from the Comune and the campsite. From 30 June to 29 August, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, a boat leaves for the Cinque Terre; it may be suspended when the sea is rough.

In Liguria, alerts for rain and thunderstorms are issued by ARPAL, with three levels: yellow, orange and red alerts. Check the level on the official Allerta Liguria website (in Italian) before setting off on hikes or boat trips.

When to go to Deiva Marina

For the sea and camping, go from June to September; for the trails towards Monte San Nicolao and Framura, choose May, June, September or October. In January there is Sant’Antonio Abate, in June San Giovanni, in October the chestnut festival (castagnata). The tunnel road towards Moneglia has been closed since 2025: you get there by train or from the A12 motorway.
