Which bay to choose

The town sits on a peninsula with two beaches on opposite sides. The Baia del Silenzio faces south-east and is enclosed and protected by a breakwater reef: it is the calmest. The Baia delle Favole is the long beach facing west, more open to the sea. On days when the libeccio (south-west wind) blows, check the wind direction in the table above: the sea is usually calmer in the Baia del Silenzio. In July and August the Baia del Silenzio has limited access, with free entry and no booking.

When to go to Sestri Levante

For the sea, go from June to September. In June there’s the Andersen Festival, and in July the Sagra del Bagnun (a local fish-stew festival) and the Barcarolata. To walk towards Punta Manara and see the town without heat or crowds, choose May, June, September or October.
