Climate in Bardineto month by month

Bardineto is in the upper Bormida valley, about 30 km from Savona as the crow flies. There are no official averages for the village: the table starts from those of Savona and subtracts about 4 °C for altitude, so it is an estimate, and there is no sea column. The climate is continental with some influence from the sea: cold winters, summers cooler than the coast, especially in the evening. If you want the weather on the beach, see the Toirano weather or the coast at Loano.

Monthly averages for Savona (air temperatures 1991–2012). Source: climieviaggi.it. For Bardineto, at about 711 m above sea level, the temperatures are an estimate: they are the Savona figures, on the coast about 30 km away, with 0.6 °C less for every 100 m of altitude; the rainy days are those of Savona. Treat them as a guide: in the valleys nights are usually cooler and the gap between day and night wider.

Sky, woods and trails

For walking, what matters most is wind on the ridges and fog, which at 1,000 metres arrives quickly and makes you lose the waymarks. If the morning is clear, start early: on summer afternoons thunderstorms can form. After rain, dirt trails and mountain bike tracks, such as the Quattro Cascine loop, can be muddy. The longest route is described in the guide to hiking from Bardineto.

In Liguria the alert for rain and thunderstorms is issued by ARPAL, at three levels: yellow, orange and red. Check it on the official Allerta Liguria site before you set off: the climb from Toirano or the Melogno is a mountain road. In winter find out about snow and ice and carry chains.

When to go to Bardineto

The best months for walking are May, June, September and October. Summer is cool and good for escaping the heat of the coast. In mid-September there is the Festa del Fungo d’Oro (in 2026 on 19 and 20 September); the 2027 dates are not confirmed. Autumn is mushroom season. From December to February the village is quiet, it can snow and many services have reduced hours.
