Where the path starts, the Capo Nero tunnel (1,750 m), the former station, on to Andora and why there is no path to Bordighera.
Ospedaletti is the starting point of the Riviera dei Fiori cycle path: from here, on the old railway line, you ride on the flat towards Sanremo and beyond. This page is for people starting from Ospedaletti: where to begin, how to ride through the Capo Nero tunnel, what lies to the east and what does not exist towards Bordighera.

The path follows the old Genoa–Ventimiglia railway, abandoned in 2001 when the line moved inland into a tunnel. The town section runs along the seafront promenade (passeggiata Sandro Pertini), flat and car-free. The official name is “Pista ciclabile del Parco costiero della Riviera dei Fiori”, but it is not a protected park: it is only the name of the route.
The surface is asphalt and wide: two lanes for bikes and one for pedestrians, with renovated, lit tunnels and panoramic rest areas. Many access points lead to beaches and green areas.

The former station, closed on 24 September 2001, is the easiest place to start. In 2023 a stretch of about 350 metres, built in 2011 and closed for structural problems, was reopened. An outdoor gym was planned beside it (work status to be checked). A bike rental is visible nearby: hours and prices are not confirmed, so phone or ask the tourist office (via XX Settembre 34).
If you come by bus line 2 from Bordighera or Sanremo, get off in town and you are already on the path: no car needed.

Towards Sanremo the path enters the former railway tunnel of Capo Nero, 1,750 metres long. Since 2014 it has been the Milano–Sanremo Gallery: Area 24, Sanremo’s public company, worked with RCS Sport and La Gazzetta dello Sport on it. A panel every 30 metres tells the story of the cycling classic. Entry is free. The night closure planned in 2014 is not confirmed for today: do not rely on the tunnel after dark.
It is lit and cool even in summer, but ride slowly: there are pedestrians and photos to take.
After the tunnel the path reaches Sanremo and continues towards Arma di Taggia, with a possible stop at Bussana, and towards Imperia. The first complete stretch ends at San Lorenzo al Mare, about 24 km from Ospedaletti: for that part, also read the page on the path at San Lorenzo al Mare, which describes it from the other end.
Since 20 June 2026 the Imperia–Diano Marina link, between Capo Berta and Galeazza, has been open and the corridor is continuous for about 45–48 km to Andora. Sources give different figures (45 km, almost 48 km): go by the distance, not the exact number. For the Diano and Cervo section read the page on San Bartolomeo al Mare.
If you hope to ride to Bordighera you will be disappointed: the Ospedaletti–Bordighera stretch does not exist and you must use the busy Via Aurelia. The status of any project is not confirmed. To reach Bordighera, take the bus.

About 24 km to San Lorenzo al Mare, over 45 km to Andora since 20 June 2026.
There is a rental near the former station, but hours and prices are not confirmed: ask in advance.
