If it rains in Finalborgo

Finalborgo is well worth visiting in the rain too: the Santa Caterina complex houses the Museo Archeologico del Finale (Finale Archaeological Museum), covering over 350,000 years of human presence, partly renovated in 2026; in the village there are the Basilica of San Biagio and the Teatro Aycardi. When the sun is out, walk up to the castles, Castel Gavone and Castel San Giovanni, along the strada Beretta: in the rain the cobbles are slippery.

When to go to Finalborgo

Finalborgo can be visited all year round. In July there’s the Palio delle Compagne Finalesi (a historical contest between the town’s districts), in August the Viaggio nel Medioevo (a medieval festival) and the Notte dei Tarocchi, and in October the mountain bike enduro races. For the sea, head down to Finale Ligure, from June to September. In Liguria, alerts for rain and thunderstorms are issued by ARPAL, with three levels: yellow, orange and red alerts.
