Nervi’s climate month by month

Nervi is a district of Genoa, the last one toward the east, about 9 km from the centre: the table uses the Genoa averages, so the climate is the city’s, with mild winters and hot summers. Sea, seaside walk and museums when the weather changes

The sea at Nervi means rocks, with no lifeguard: the city has identified seven bathing areas, and all of them carry the same sign, bathing not safe because there is no lifeguard service. Nervi has no Blue Flag. When the sea is rough or the wind is strong, stay out of the water, and the Anita Garibaldi promenade can be closed: for details, read our guide to the Anita Garibaldi promenade. Swimming is permanently banned in front of the little harbour.

If it rains, the museums are plan B: the GAM, the Raccolte Frugone and the Wolfsoniana share the same hours, Tuesday to Sunday 11:00–17:00 from 29 September 2026 to 18 April 2027, and are closed on non-holiday Mondays. The Giannettino Luxoro Museum can only be visited with a guide, by reservation. With a red hydrogeological alert the museums are closed, in a strong gale the Raccolte Frugone stay shut, and the Nervi Parks close during weather alerts: check the city’s notices.

In Liguria, alerts for rain and thunderstorms are issued by ARPAL, on three levels: yellow, orange and red. Check them on the official Allerta Liguria website (in Italian) before you set out.

When to go to Nervi

For swimming from the rocks, go from June to September, remembering that the official season runs from 1 May to 30 September. For the promenade and the rose garden, which blooms in spring, usually in May, choose spring or autumn. In winter the sea is not open for swimming and the museums follow their winter hours, but the promenade is still the best reason to come. In September there is Nervicinema, the summer open-air cinema of the Cinema San Siro (in 2026 it ran on 4–6 September).
