Borgio Verezzi Caves: guided visit of about 40 minutes, 10 euro ticket, times to check, dark descent and how to get there.
The Borgio Verezzi Caves, also called the Valdemino caves, are a karst system under the hill of Verezzi, in the municipality of Borgio Verezzi. They were discovered in 1933 and opened to the public in 1970. You can only visit with a guide, along a tourist route of about 800 metres through large chambers and blocks fallen from the ceiling.

The tour is guided and lasts about 40 minutes according to the official site; some guides say an hour once you count entry and waiting. The route crosses the main chambers and passes between large blocks that fell from the ceiling. As in any show cave the floor can be wet: wear shoes with a non-slip sole. The inside temperature is not given on the official pages, but bring a light jacket even in summer.
The photos on this page show the village and the coast, not the inside of the caves. The operator’s site, run by the Arcadia social cooperative, is grottediborgio.it: there you find times, prices and booking.
The official site publishes a timetable it calls winter, with no validity dates: entries at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00, every day, closed on 25 December. Summer times are not shown on the page we read. Aggregator sites give different and sometimes conflicting times (for example evening visits in July and August): do not rely on them and check the site before you go. ⚠️ Whether you can walk in without booking is also not confirmed: the site has a «Prenota ora» (book now) button.
Prices on the Tariffe page: full ticket 10 euros, reduced 3 to 10 years 6 euros, free from 0 to 2 years. For groups of 20 adults the price is 8 euros each, for school groups 7 euros. These are undated figures from the site: check they are still valid.
Besides the normal visit the site offers the «discesa al buio» (descent in the dark) on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays at 14:00 (in the winter timetable): you go down with the guide in a different atmosphere. There is also the «Emotional experience», a guided descent with a headtorch, by booking: 12 euros for adults and 9 euros for children. Booking is compulsory for the dark experiences.
For schools the site has offered educational workshops, but the pages we read carry 2023–2024 dates: they are not confirmed for 2026. In 2026 the caves were also a venue of the theatre festival, with a sound installation.

The address is via Battorezza 5, in Borgio Verezzi. From Borgio Marina station you have to reach the centre and then climb: we have not checked a direct bus or the walking distance, so check line 84 times on tpllinea.it or ask the municipality. By car leave the A10 at Pietra Ligure or Finale Ligure and continue on the Aurelia. One aggregator mentions parking about 100 metres away, but this is not confirmed.
The caves pair well with the village of Verezzi, the other reason to come: piazza Sant’Agostino, the four hamlets, the windmill, the Croce dei Santi. The full route is in the guide to Borgio Verezzi. In bad weather the visit is underground anyway; for another beach day go to Pietra Ligure or Finale Ligure.
They are two different cave systems in two different valleys. Those of Borgio Verezzi are also called Valdemino and lie above the village; the Toirano Caves are inland, in the Val Varatella, with their own route, ticket and booking. If you only have time for one, choose by distance: Borgio Verezzi is on the coast, Toirano needs a drive or a bus ride. More on the others: Toirano and Toirano Caves.
