Roads, tunnels and bad weather

The tunnels of the former railway between Riva Trigoso and Moneglia have been closed since 27 March 2025 due to collapses and rockfalls, and those towards Deiva Marina since 10 April 2025: reopening is not expected before 2027. To get there, take the train or the strada del Facciù (Facciù road), and check the Pro Loco’s notices before setting off. In heavy rain and during alerts, there may be landslides on the inland roads: check the forecast. In Liguria, alerts for rain and thunderstorms are issued by ARPAL, with three levels: yellow, orange and red alerts. Check the level on the official Allerta Liguria website (in Italian) before setting off on hikes or boat trips.
