Toirano’s climate month by month

Toirano is in the Val Varatella, 38 m above sea level and 3–4 km from the sea: the table uses the averages for Savona, the nearest station, about 28 km away. It has mild winters and hot summers, with rain spread between autumn and spring and little rain in summer. The sea temperature in the table refers to the nearby stretch of coast, not to the village, which is not on the sea.

Caves and bad weather

The Toirano Caves are the right choice when the weather is bad: according to the municipality the temperature inside is about 16 °C in summer and winter. With an orange or red weather alert the caves close, and with strong wind or persistent rain they may close even without a regional alert: before you go, check the news on the official site toiranogrotte.it. Visits are by reservation, so check times and tickets there. The path from the car park to the entrance climbs for about 300 m: in the rain it can be slippery, so wear closed shoes with rubber soles.

In the village, on rainy days, you can visit the ethnographic museum in the D’Aste palace; check its opening times first.

When to go to Toirano

For the sea at Borghetto Santo Spirito and Loano, go from June to September; for the village, the caves and the Val Varatella trails, spring and autumn are fine. On 17 and 18 October 2026 there is Ulivissima, the municipality’s event; 11 November is the feast of San Martino, the village’s patron; between December and January the Nativity Scenes Trail is usually held, described in the guide to the nativity scenes of Toirano.
