From 30 October to 1 November 2026 Triora, the witches’ village of the upper Argentina Valley, turns into a Halloween stage: three days of fire shows, roving theatre, vertical dance, a small market, live music and entertainment for families in the old town. Entry to the event is free and the highlight is Witches’ Night, on Saturday 31 October.

The event is organised by the Municipality of Triora, with artistic direction by Le Muse di Sanremo and the support of the Liguria Region. The programme was published by the Municipality, but times can change: check for updates on the Municipality’s website before you drive up.

The programme day by day

Friday 30 October: the pre-Halloween evening

At 9.30pm there is the workshop “L’amuleto dei Quattro Elementi” (the Amulet of the Four Elements). At 10pm the Triora Ghost Tour starts: it is paid and booking is compulsory on autunnonero.com, the organiser of the tour.

Saturday 31 October: Witches’ Night

The market in Corso Italia opens at 10.30am. From early afternoon, in Piazza del Mercato, there are falconry, divination with fire and wax and purification rites, while at the Salotto Letterario (the literary lounge) authors talk about folklore and witchcraft. At 7pm the opening parade, with the Junior Marching Band Città di Ventimiglia and the Krampus, sets off from the entrance to the village.

The evening gets busier: from 8pm “Dorian Gray” at the Castle and the video mapping “Disegnare con la luce” (Drawing with light) in Piazza Tommaso Reggio, at 8.30pm the show of the esoteric owls, at 9.30pm “La strega racconta” (the witch tells), a fire show with horror stories. The finale, at 11pm, is “Profundum”, vertical dance and interactive video mapping, again in Piazza Tommaso Reggio. During the day there is also the roving theatre “Halloween Triptych”, not suitable for under-14s, with divination workshops and a photo hunt.

Sunday 1 November: the day for families

The market reopens at 10.30am, and at 11am and 2pm the old town fills with people in costume. From 2pm to 5pm in Piazza Tommaso Reggio there are the horror circus, vintage games and the photo booth; at 3pm the birds-of-prey show in Piazza del Mercato; at 3.30pm and 4.30pm the roving show “L’ultima maledizione” (the last curse) at the Castle.

Entry, booking and where to eat

Entry to the event is free. The Friday Ghost Tour is paid and must be booked; for the divination activities and for the roving theatre of the Associazione Terra di Confine you need to book at their stand, the Gazebo Info Point near the Museo Etnografico. Food stalls are open throughout the event and the village restaurants serve dishes from the Ligurian hinterland.

Getting there and where to park

Triora lies inland from Arma di Taggia, in the upper Argentina Valley, and you reach it by a mountain road: with darkness and the Halloween crowds, leave with plenty of time. The organisers announce dedicated car parks with a continuous shuttle to the old town, but locations and prices have not been published yet: for information call the Municipality of Triora on +39 0184 94049.

Why Triora is the village of witches

Between 1587 and 1589 Triora was at the centre of a famous witchcraft trial: in a time of famine, some women of the village were accused of having caused the community’s troubles. La Cabotina, a farmhouse outside the walls, is the place tradition links to the witches’ sabbaths, although this is a legend born from confessions extracted during interrogations; today it houses the Museo Etnografico e della Stregoneria (the Ethnographic and Witchcraft Museum). The whole story, and what to see in the village, is in our guide to the witches of Triora.

Where it takes place

The event takes place in Triora (Riviera di Ponente, Riviera dei Fiori).
