Zoagli's climate month by month

Zoagli is on the Gulf of Tigullio, between Rapallo and Chiavari, its houses squeezed between the hills and the cliffs. The village faces south and south-west and is sheltered from the tramontana, the cold north wind: winters are mild and summers hot, with the heaviest rain in autumn. For Zoagli the table uses the averages for Genoa.

Storm surges and seafront promenades

The two seafront promenades, east and west, start from the main square and run along the cliffs. When the sea is heavy the waves reach the promenade itself: the storm surge of October 2018 brought part of it down, and it was rebuilt between 2021 and 2022. During a storm surge or a weather alert it may be closed, and in any case keep away from the edge. The beaches are small and pebbly, and many people swim off the rocks: when the sea is rough, give it a miss. Zoagli has no ferry landing: boats leave from Rapallo or Chiavari, and in heavy seas they may be cancelled. On rainy days you can visit the velvet workshops, by appointment.

In Liguria, alerts for rain and thunderstorms are issued by ARPAL, with three levels: yellow, orange and red alerts. Check the level on the official Allerta Liguria website (in Italian) before setting off on hikes or boat trips.

When to go to Zoagli

For the sea, go from June to September; for the trails to the hamlets, Rapallo and Chiavari, choose spring or autumn. On the third weekend of May there is the Marcia dei 5 Campanili walk (in 2026 it was postponed because of bad weather). On 5 August the village celebrates the Madonna del Mare, with an evening mass on the beach, a torchlight procession of divers and fireworks; on 11 November it’s San Martino, the patron saint.
