When to go to Rapallo

For the sea, go from June to September; July and August are the busiest months, partly because of the Feste di Luglio (July festivities). To walk in the hills, go up to Montallegro and explore the Tigullio without the heat, choose April, May, June, September or October. In winter Rapallo is quiet and mild, good for walks along the seafront.

Storm surges, boats and alerts

When the libeccio blows, the sea pushes hard into the gulf: the storm surge on the night of 29 to 30 October 2018 brought down about 300 metres of the breakwater of the Carlo Riva marina and destroyed hundreds of boats. On days with heavy seas, keep away from the seafront promenade; the boats to Santa Margherita, Portofino and San Fruttuoso run according to the weather and may be suspended: check at the pier.
