It\u2019s worth it if you take at least four or five trains in a day or if you want to hike the Via dell\u2019Amore. The Trekking Card gives you access to the paid trails, namely the Sentiero Verde Azzurro between <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/cinque-terre\/monterosso\/\">Monterosso<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/cinque-terre\/vernazza\/\">Vernazza<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/cinque-terre\/corniglia\/\">Corniglia<\/a>, and the Via dell\u2019Amore between <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/cinque-terre\/riomaggiore\/\">Riomaggiore<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/cinque-terre\/manarola\/\">Manarola<\/a>. Plus: the Park\u2019s buses within the villages, restroom use at the stations in the five villages (1 euro without the card), the Park\u2019s Wi-Fi, guided tours of the Walking Park from May through October, free admission to the CAMeC in La Spezia, and reduced-price admission to the Civic Museums.  <\/p>\n<p>The Treno MS Card includes unlimited second-class travel on regional and fast regional trains between <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/riviera-di-levante\/levanto\/\">Levanto<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/riviera-di-levante\/la-spezia\/\">La Spezia<\/a> (as far as La Spezia Migliarina). It is not valid on Intercity or Frecciabianca trains. The cards are valid until midnight on the last day: if you buy it at 3:00 p.m., the day is already halfway over.  <\/p>\n<h2>Prices for 2026 (accessed October 10, 2026)<\/h2>\n<p>The Treno Card follows Trenitalia&#8217;s traffic categories: A (low), B (medium), and C (high). Adults: 10 or 15 euros for one day, 17 or 26.70 for two days, 23.50 or 37.50 for three days; youth 7 or 10 euros, seniors over 70 8.50 or 12.50, families 27.10 or 40.20 per day. In 2026, peak days are Easter (April 3\u20136), April 25\u201326, May 1, all weekends in May including the 14th and 15th, June 1\u20132, the weekends of June 6\u20137 and 13\u201314, and those from September 12 to 27. There are no peak days in July and August. Calculating with individual tickets <\/h2>\n<p>A single ticket at the Cinque Terre fare costs 5, 8, or 10 euros in zones A, B, and C, and is valid for a single trip. Here\u2019s when the Treno Card saves you money: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tier A:<\/strong> 22-euro pass; four rides cost 20 euros, five cost 25. It&#8217;s worth it starting at five trains, or four if you also take the Via dell&#8217;Amore. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Category B:<\/strong> single-ride ticket, 29.50 euros; four rides cost 32 euros. It&#8217;s a good deal if you take four trains. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Category C:<\/strong> 35-euro pass; four rides cost 40 euros. It\u2019s worth it if you take four trains. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A typical example: You arrive in La Spezia, take the train to Riomaggiore, walk along the Via dell&#8217;Amore to Manarola, then take the train to Vernazza, the train to Monterosso, and return to La Spezia. That\u2019s four trains plus the Via dell\u2019Amore: with individual tickets in fare zone B, you\u2019ll spend 32 euros, plus a 10-euro Trekking Card for the Via dell\u2019Amore; with the Treno Card, it\u2019s 29.50 euros total. <\/p>\n<p>You don&#8217;t need the card if you&#8217;re visiting just one or two villages and returning, or if you&#8217;re dining out: after 7:30 p.m., the ticket always costs 5 euros. If you\u2019re staying in Levanto or La Spezia and are coming from out of town, remember that the card only covers the Levanto\u2013La Spezia route. Check <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/en\/cinque-terre-train-timetable\/\">the Cinque Terre trains<\/a> page for schedules and tickets.  <\/p>\n<h2>Where to Buy It and How to Use It<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" src=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/treni-cinque-terre-1024x681.webp\" class=\"wp-image-44162\" alt=\"Cinque Terre Train Along the Coast\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/treni-cinque-terre-1024x681.webp 1024w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/treni-cinque-terre-300x199.webp 300w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/treni-cinque-terre-768x511.webp 768w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/treni-cinque-terre-1536x1021.webp 1536w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/treni-cinque-terre-2048x1362.webp 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"><\/figure>\n<p>You can buy it online on <a href=\"https:\/\/card.parconazionale5terre.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the official card website<\/a> or through the Park\u2019s app, at the Park\u2019s Infopoints at stations from La Spezia to Levanto, and the Treno Card is also available on the Trenitalia website and app, at ticket windows, and at self-service ticket machines. During peak season, lines at the Infopoints are long: buy online. Only those who purchase on the Park\u2019s website can change the date\u2014once\u2014at least 24 hours in advance and within the same price bracket.  <\/p>\n<p>There are two versions circulating regarding validation: \u201cit must be validated on the first train\u201d and \u201cit doesn\u2019t need to be validated.\u201d The park\u2019s regulations take precedence: the card displays the date and a QR code, so <strong>it does not need to be validated<\/strong> at Trenitalia ticket machines. However, you must write your first and last name on it before using it; otherwise, it is not valid. This also applies to the digital version on your smartphone\u2014you don\u2019t need to print it out. If you purchased it from Trenitalia, follow the instructions printed on the card. Single-use paper tickets, on the other hand, must always be validated before boarding.     <\/p>\n<p>The card is personal, non-transferable, and non-refundable. Show it along with a form of ID during inspections: if it\u2019s invalid, Trenitalia will fine you on the train, and on the trails, the Park will charge you double the price of an adult day pass. <\/p>\n<h2>Closed trails, weather alerts, and refunds<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/vernazza-2-1024x576.webp\" class=\"wp-image-44390\" alt=\"Vernazza and its harbor as seen from the trail\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/vernazza-2-1024x576.webp 1024w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/vernazza-2-300x169.webp 300w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/vernazza-2-768x432.webp 768w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/vernazza-2-1536x864.webp 1536w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/vernazza-2-2048x1152.webp 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"><\/figure>\n<p>As of September 10, 2026, the Sentiero Verde Azzurro trail between Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso is closed for geological inspections, and as of October 10, there is no reopening date. For now, the card grants access to the Via dell\u2019Amore, buses, restrooms, and\u2014with the Train version\u2014trains. Before purchasing the Trekking Card, check the status on <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/en\/cinque-terre-trails\/\">the Cinque Terre trails<\/a> page.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Orange or red alert:<\/strong> Passes are not being sold, and the trails are closed. Anyone who has already purchased a pass can request a refund. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Train Strike:<\/strong> Refund for the Treno Card if You Were Unable to Travel.<\/li>\n<li><strong>All paid trails are closed at the same time<\/strong> (Verde Azzurro and Via dell&#8217;Amore): refund for the Trekking Card.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rain without a warning, overcrowding, landslides:<\/strong> the park may close a trail, but the card is not refundable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2- or 3-day passes:<\/strong> No refunds if you&#8217;ve already used them, even partially.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For paper cards, you must request a refund using the form on the Park&#8217;s website within 30 days of the card&#8217;s date of issue.<\/p>\n<h2>Via dell&#8217;Amore: No extra admission fee, but reservations are required<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"584\" src=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/via-dellamore-manarola-1024x584.webp\" class=\"wp-image-44422\" alt=\"Via dell'Amore toward Manarola\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/via-dellamore-manarola-1024x584.webp 1024w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/via-dellamore-manarola-300x171.webp 300w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/via-dellamore-manarola-768x438.webp 768w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/via-dellamore-manarola.webp 1217w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"><\/figure>\n<p>In 2026, the Via dell&#8217;Amore is included in both the Trekking Card and the Treno Card at no additional cost: the old Card Plus is no longer available. You cannot enter without a card. However, you must reserve a time slot\u2014either at the time of purchase or afterward\u2014using the voucher code on the card website. The trail runs only from Riomaggiore to Manarola: open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. through October 24, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting October 26.
