The Montemarcello-Magra-Vara Park publishes a table with number, time, ascent and difficulty; this page reproduces it and adds what the table leaves out: which trails are closed, where you really start from, and what to check before setting out. The park says the trail is closed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>437 \u2013 Botanical garden:<\/strong> La Gruzza to Monte Murlo, 15 min, 115 m, T. The park says the garden is closed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>431\/432 \u2013 Tellaro, Portesone, Barbazzano, Fiascherino:<\/strong> 1 h, 115 m, E. No closure shown.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Trail 433: from Bocca di Magra to Lerici via the village<\/h2>\n<p>This is the most complete stage: it crosses Montemarcello and links two places with a harbour, <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/en\/riviera-di-levante\/bocca-di-magra\/\">Bocca di Magra<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/en\/riviera-di-levante\/lerici\/\">Lerici<\/a>. The park gives 3 h 15 and 340 m of ascent. Other sources give higher figures (about 3 h 50 and 410 m), so do not trust unofficial times: start with a margin. Plan your return before leaving, because at the end you need a bus or a boat; times and services are not confirmed, check ATC and the boat operators.<\/p>\n<h2>Closed or doubtful trails<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/montemarcello-sulle-colline-sopra-il-golfo-dei-poeti-1024x768.jpg\" class=\"wp-image-62211\" alt=\"Montemarcello sulle colline sopra il Golfo dei Poeti\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/montemarcello-sulle-colline-sopra-il-golfo-dei-poeti-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/montemarcello-sulle-colline-sopra-il-golfo-dei-poeti-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/montemarcello-sulle-colline-sopra-il-golfo-dei-poeti-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/montemarcello-sulle-colline-sopra-il-golfo-dei-poeti-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/montemarcello-sulle-colline-sopra-il-golfo-dei-poeti.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<p><strong>436 \u2013 Punta Corvo.<\/strong> The descent to the beach is banned by order no. 3 of 12 April 2023 of the mayor of Ameglia, because of falling rock. The park still shows it closed in October 2026 and we found no revocation. Check the order of the municipality of Ameglia and the park&#8217;s notice before going. The park&#8217;s pages about boats to Punta Corvo are out of date: ignore them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>444 \u2013 Tellaro.<\/strong> The park published a closure order in April 2024. We found no revocation: if you want to walk towards <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/en\/riviera-di-levante\/tellaro\/\">Tellaro<\/a>, ask the park which stretches are open.<\/p>\n<p><strong>434 \u2013 Punta Bianca.<\/strong> The official trail starts at the Monastery of Santa Croce in Bocca di Magra, not from Montemarcello. The park shows no closure; local press reported a landslide in November 2023 and later works, but no official revocation was found. A Montemarcello\u2013Punta Bianca loop is not confirmed.<\/p>\n<h2>The botanical garden and trail no. 1<\/h2>\n<p>Trail 437 leads to the botanical garden on Monte Murlo (365 m). The park&#8217;s pages contradict each other: one says it is closed pending renewal of an agreement with the municipality of Ameglia, another publishes a calendar. Do not treat it as a sure destination. Trail no. 1 links Montemarcello with Zanego and passes near the garden: its duration is not confirmed.<\/p>\n<h2>Guided walks and what to bring<\/h2>\n<p>The park&#8217;s environmental education centre runs free walks with limited places, by booking (0187 691071, cea@parcomagra.it). The calendar changes: check the events archive on the park website. The park advises hiking shoes, water, a waterproof jacket in autumn and winter, hat and sunglasses in summer, and checking weather alerts before leaving. Get off at <a href=\"https:\/\/italian-riviera.com\/en\/riviera-di-levante\/sarzana\/\">Sarzana<\/a> and continue with ATC La Spezia (freephone 800 322 322 in Italy): line and times are not confirmed. Always check the return.<\/p>\n<h2>Frequently asked questions about the trails of Montemarcello<\/h2>\n<p><strong>How long is the Bocca di Magra \u2013 Lerici trail?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The park gives 3 h 15 one way and 340 m of ascent. Distances are not published.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can I walk to Punta Corvo?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trail 436 has been closed since 2023 and the park still shows it closed. Check the order and notice first.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is Punta Bianca reached from Montemarcello?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>No: trail 434 starts at the Monastery of Santa Croce in Bocca di Magra.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can I climb to the botanical garden?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trail 437 takes 15 minutes, but the park shows the garden closed on one page and open on a calendar on another.
